STLRR is not a shelter, but rather operates out of private foster homes, which we never have enough. On any given day, we may see 25+ purebred Labs in our local area shelters at “time up,” slated to be euthanized.

These are the dogs that demand our focus.

For that reason, we are generally not able to accept owner-surrendered dogs into our program. We can, however, sometimes assist by offering a courtesy posting on our website.  In order for us to courtesy post your Labrador(s) you would need to meet the following requirements:

     • We need to have photos emailed and the dog needs to look purebred.

     • The dog needs to be spayed/neutered, kept current on all vaccinations and preventatives and needs to test negative for heartworms. You would need to fax proof of that information with vet records to 1-866-436-4996.

     • You would need to be able to keep and foster the dog until the dog finds a home, and we have no way to say how long that would be.  The dog would remain yours and your responsibility unless/until we would have an adopter that may be interested in adopting the Lab.

     •  The dog would need to pass a temperament evaluation by an evaluator from our group. If you can meet these requirements, we’ll be happy to speak with you in greater detail about your pup. If we are able to find a home for the dog with one of our approved adopters, we would then reserve the right to collect an adoption fee from our adopter.

If this is something you’re interested in discussing in greater detail, please contact us at info@txlabrescue.org more details about health status and temperament.
